This double flipbook edition - the sequel to 12 Principles of Animation - is a compact yet powerful tool for animation fans, students, teachers and professionals who want to study movement in depth.
Across two volumes, each featuring six animated sequences, one book focused on human motion and the other on animal motion. The collection presents 12 animated sequences by renowned animator Raúl García, exploring balance, weight, rhythm and locomotion, frame by frame. It also includes an illustrated educational booklet for deeper analysis. And just like 12 Principles, it is a colouring flipbook as well!
Each book incorporates a “magic trick” which lets you switch between 6 different sequences, according to the position of your thumb. Each side of the flip book contains 3 different sequences. Thanks to Flipboku's exclusive paper cutting technique, you can switch between them by placing your thumb at the upper, middle and lower edge on both sides of the flip book.
The 12 principles are based on Disney animators Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas's 1981 book The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation, in which they explore the work of Disney animators from the 1930's onwards, in their quest to produce more realistic animations, in which cartoon characters adhere to the laws of physics but with more abstract characteristics such as emotional timing and character appeal.
Animated by Raúl García, this double collection provides a handy tool for beginners, students or professionals who need a quick reference guide with animated examples.
Raúl García is a renowned Spanish animator, who has worked on countless animated feature films, including Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Who Framed Roger Rabbit among many others.
