Forbidden Desert reinforces strategic thinking, visual discrimination and cooperation.
A game the series that also includes with Forbidden Island and Forbidden Sky, Forbidden Desert is a standalone game. The pattern of cooperative gameplay with a modular board will be familiar if you have already played these games, but Forbidden Desert offers a new game experience. It is simultaneously approachable to new players while upping the ante for those who felt they had mastered Forbidden Island. Innovations in game mechanics include an ever-shifting board, individual resource management, and unique method for locating the flying machine parts.
Having played Forbidden Island many times and enjoying the mechanics and theme, I had high hopes for this. Turns out I was not disappointed, some even better aspects to this game. Really looking forward to many more games. I played this with my 11 year old son (who likes strategy games like chess) and he enjoyed it too.
