Mechanical Hand STEM Kit - Smartivity

Smartivity Mechanical Hand – Build, Learn and Control

Build your very own working mechanical hand with the Smartivity Mechanical Hand kit. Designed for children aged 8+, this hands-on STEM activity combines building, experimenting and play as children discover how a real hand works.

Using pre-cut wooden pieces and easy-to-follow instructions, children assemble the hand themselves, then use its controls to pick up and move objects. Along the way, they get an introduction to levers, links, gears and biomimicry, helping them understand how simple mechanical principles can be used to recreate the movement of the human hand.

This is a satisfying project that encourages problem-solving, logical thinking, fine motor skills and creativity, while giving children the chance to see the science behind their creation in action. The kit also includes learning activities that explain the ideas behind the build in an accessible way.

• Build a working mechanical hand from pre-cut wooden pieces

• Explore human hand anatomy, biomimicry and basic engineering principles

• Encourages problem-solving, concentration and hands-on learning

• Suitable for ages 8+

• No specialist tools required

A great choice for curious kids who enjoy building things, finding out how they work and creating something they can actually play with.
